2009 - Cruise - Day 1

pic We left St Petersburg a little after 6am. The sun wasn't up yet. And the fog was really thick. We drove down I-275 to I-75, across Alligator Alley to southeast Florida. We arrived at Keun's parents' house around 10:20 AM. It was really nice of him and his parents to let us park our car in their garage while we're on the cruise.
After we parked our car, Keun drove us and our luggages to the Port of Miami. On the way there, we stopped in downtown Miami for a quick lunch at Baja Fresh. Downtown Miami has changed a lot since I left for college back in 1999. There are now many new skyscrapers, changing the Miami skyline.
We were in downtown for no more than an hour. In that short amount of time, we saw some really cool cars: an Audo R8 and a Ferrari F480 Spyder chasing a Lotus Esprit!
After Keun dropped us off, we went through custom and got on the ship (the Norwegian Jewel) by 1:00 PM. We spent the next couple of hours walking around, exploring the ship, since the staterooms weren't ready yet. At 3:30 PM we went to our assembly station (B1 on Deck 7) for a quick drill. The ship left Miami by 4:00 PM. The whole sceneries were quite pretty, with the blue water, Miami skyline, and the sunny, warm weather.
We explored the ship some more before heading to dinner at the Azura restaurant at 6:00 PM. Afterward we went to see a standup comedy show. It was pretty good, and the guy was actually pretty funny.
