2009 - Cruise - Day 5

Today we went to Costa Maya, Mexico. It's a small town with population of about 500, and about 5 hours south of Cancun. The main part of town is the cruise ships dock and the shopping plaza. The plaza was recently built, and looked quite nice. It had the feel of a typical theme park, with Mexican theme. The water was really nice, deep blue.

Our excursion today was Dune Buggie and Beach. It didn't start until close to noon, so we got to sleep in and then went shopping in the morning. We got some post cards and some t-shirts.
Our tour guides today were Omar and Adrian. They were pretty cool. We paired up with another couple (Mike and Amanda from Washington, DC). They drove the first half of the trip, on potted road along the beach. I drove the second half, on a Mexican highway on the way back. At mid way point, we spent an hour at a beach. It wasn't that impressive. There were some trash in the water and on the beach.
In the evening, we went to see the Cat's Pajamas. They were pretty cool, did every thing acapella. We also sat next to some of the performers from last night show (Jean Ann Ryan Company).  We went to a chocolate buffet afterward.  There were a few cool chocolate sculptures, but the food were mostly cakes.
